Lindos brings together a monumental hilltop sanctuary, a preserved car-free village and some of Rhodes's most attractive swimming coves.
The Acropolis of Lindos rises above the village with the Temple of Athena Lindia, Hellenistic stoa and later Knights' walls sharing one commanding site. Below, white houses hide ornate captains' courtyards and narrow lanes built for shade.
Lindos Bay and Saint Paul's Bay provide calm water beneath the rock. The village becomes heavily crowded on summer day trips, but early mornings and evenings reveal quieter architecture and a more relaxed restaurant scene.
Practical information
Buses run from Rhodes Town and vehicles park above the pedestrian village. Walk rather than use donkeys, carry water for the acropolis and arrive at opening time.
