Skiathos combines more than sixty beaches with a sociable harbour town, forest walks and sites linked to writer Alexandros Papadiamantis.

Skiathos's south coast is lined with accessible beaches from Megali Ammos to Koukounaries, backed by pines and served by buses. The north is rougher and quieter, with Lalaria's white pebbles reached only in safe sea conditions.

Skiathos Town provides restaurants and nightlife, while the Papadiamantis House and Monastery of Evangelistria add literary and independence history. Marked trails cross forest and old agricultural landscapes beyond the resorts.

Practical information

Skiathos has an airport and ferry port. Use the frequent beach bus, avoid unauthorised boat landings at Lalaria and keep away from stones taken as souvenirs.
