A private island closely associated with the Onassis family.
Skorpios lies opposite Nidri and is historically linked to Aristotle Onassis, but remains private and is viewed mainly from licensed boat trips.
Aristotle Onassis purchased Skorpios in the 1960s, and the island became internationally known through his marriage to Jacqueline Kennedy and the family's private life there. Ownership has since changed, but public access remains tightly limited.
Excursion boats often pass its wooded shoreline while touring the Inner Ionian. The responsible experience is contextual and from the water; private beaches, buildings and jetties are not invitations to land.
Practical information
There is no public ferry. Stay aboard licensed excursion boats, follow the skipper's instructions and do not cross buoys, enter private water zones or fly drones.
