Quiet, self-contained suites behind Fiskardo’s harbour
Balhambra Suites occupies an enviable pocket of old Fiskardo: one turn behind the harbour, close to boats, cafés and restaurants but screened from their bustle by a flower-filled courtyard. The suites are spacious and individually arranged, with kitchenettes that make a slow breakfast or a simple lunch possible. Most also have a balcony, although the outlook ranges from courtyard greenery to glimpses of the water. The mood is independent and grown-up, helped by thoughtful hosts who are present when advice is needed without making the property feel formal.
There is no pool, restaurant or conventional resort programme here, and most accommodation is upstairs without a lift. Guests come for location and room to spread out, then swim from nearby coves or take a boat along Kefalonia’s northern coast. Fiskardo can be lively in high summer, but the courtyard position keeps nights surprisingly composed. Balhambra is the village’s best adults-only base for couples who want everything within an easy walk and prefer a characterful suite to a full-service hotel on the outskirts.
