A resort beneath the Temple of Poseidon
Cape Sounio’s setting is unusually specific: forested grounds descend towards two beaches while the Temple of Poseidon stands across the water on its headland. The resort’s low bungalows and villas are spread through the landscape, creating privacy and a strong sense of escape despite being reachable from Athens and the airport by road.
Days move between the beaches, pools, spa and waterside restaurants, with the temple best visited late in the afternoon once tour traffic begins to ease. Families benefit from space and organised activities, while private-pool accommodation gives couples and multigenerational groups a more secluded version of the resort. It is not an efficient base for daily Athens sightseeing; it is much better as a coastal chapter that combines archaeology with a proper beach stay.
