Ios’s most complete luxury hotel between port and Chora
Liostasi occupies the useful middle ground between Ios port and Chora, high enough for broad Aegean views but close enough to reach either on foot. Its white terraces hold two outdoor pools, including a children’s pool, alongside a compact spa, gym and a thoughtful collection of contemporary art. Rooms run from panoramic doubles to large adjoining suites and maisonettes, some with hot tubs, shared-pool access or a private heated pool. Breakfast and the complimentary port transfer make arrival easy, while Grandma’s Restaurant is a genuine reason to stay in for dinner rather than a fallback hotel dining room.
The hillside is part of the appeal and the principal compromise. The 500-metre walk to Chora climbs, paths and levels are not equally easy with a pushchair, and this is not a hotel directly on the sand. Room labels also deserve careful reading: “pool access” may mean a shared pool, and the outlook and outdoor privacy change considerably between categories. Families have excellent connecting options, but the composed atmosphere and prices lean more naturally towards couples. Expedia’s 9.8 score across 222 reviews gives Liostasi the strongest mature rating on Ios. It is the island’s best all-round luxury choice for travellers who want dining, spa time and access to town in one stay.
