Ios is known for summer parties in Chora, but also offers long sandy beaches, Homeric traditions and an increasingly thoughtful food and culture scene.
Chora and Mylopotas drive Ios's nightlife image, drawing a young international crowd in July and August. Beyond that circuit, the island opens into dry hills, remote beaches and archaeological sites including Skarkos, an important Early Cycladic settlement.
The tomb traditionally associated with Homer stands in the north, while Manganari provides broad, sheltered sand far from the main town. Ios works best when its energetic nights are balanced with early walks, quieter coves and the inland landscape.

Buses link Ormos port, Chora, Mylopotas and Manganari in season. Roads are dark outside settlements; use buses or taxis after drinking and book quieter lodging away from Chora's core.
