Local teachers began gathering the museum's material in the 1970s, and that origin gives the displays a grounded emphasis on work and home. Clothing, embroidery, agricultural and craft tools, a printer's equipment and records from schools and shops expand the city's story beyond rulers. The sesame-oil workshop in the courtyard is an especially concrete trace of twentieth-century production.
The municipality publishes a weekly schedule, but a volunteer or association-run museum should always be reconfirmed before arrival. Allow at least forty-five minutes and ask for help with objects that have limited English interpretation. The neoclassical building may include steps and tight rooms, so discuss mobility needs. Do not handle tools or textiles, even when displays feel domestic and informal.
