Our take

Oia eats behind the sunset crowd

Roka occupies a converted house on Markou Botsari, tucked into Oia's back lanes with a small garden, a few balcony tables and no procession past the caldera rail. Grilled squid, sea bream, lamb ragout, veal risotto and fava put careful cooking ahead of a guaranteed view.

Finding the lane takes patience. Reserve the balcony well ahead or accept the garden, order fish before heavier lamb dishes and ask for Philip's current recommendations; portions fill quickly, while house wine remains saner than many Oia lists.

What visitors say

Roka carries a deep, strong Tripadvisor record and Travelers' Choice recognition; 2026 diners repeatedly cite squid, sea bream, lamb ragout, fava, return visits and fair house wine.
