Mykonos facing the open Aegean
Armenistis Lighthouse stands above the channel towards Tinos, exposed to the wind and to an enormous northern horizon. The structure commemorates a dangerous maritime passage and still conveys the practical, seafaring Mykonos that existed long before the beach-club era.
The final approach and conditions can be rough, so use a suitable vehicle or a reputable small tour rather than assuming a casual sunset drive. Do not expect entry to the tower. Go for the landscape, stay clear of unstable edges and take every item of rubbish back with you.
