Connect all three settlements on foot to understand why island life developed above as well as beside the harbour
The route begins among the rooms and tavernas of Agios Georgios, then climbs towards Megalo Chorio and smaller Mikro Chorio. The settlements' inland position recalls a time when visibility from the sea meant vulnerability. Everyday houses, livestock enclosures and cultivated plots matter more here than landmark collecting.
Walk early, keep gates as found and avoid photographing residents without permission. Roads and paths have little shade, pavements are inconsistent and dogs or livestock may be present. Add the Tholoi only if heat and footing remain comfortable.
