The cross-island route between Episkopi and Kalamos port passes through one of the Ionian's most extensive island pine forests.
The walk reveals Kalamos beyond its harbours, but distance, heat and uneven surfaces require planning. Confirm the route and fire restrictions, carry an offline map and take substantially more water than a village stroll. Pine shade is intermittent and fallen branches may obscure tracks. Arrange a return rather than assuming transport, and avoid walking alone near dusk.
