Connect mansions, working streets and Tsakonian culture before looking up at the cliffs
Begin near the town hall, look for bilingual Tsakonian signs and move slowly through the lanes around the principal mansions. The Tsikaliotis Tower gives the walk an architectural focus, while the Culture Factory explains rural history and the routes that once connected the eastern Peloponnese by sea. Shops, cafés, courtyards and agricultural traffic are part of the route rather than visual clutter to be edited out.
Allow two hours and check both cultural buildings' opening notices before departure. This is a residential and working town: keep doorways open, ask before photographing people and do not enter courtyards because a gate is ajar. Pavement can be narrow or broken, so use secure shoes and remain alert to vehicles. In summer, walk early; at Easter, follow crowd and traffic controls instead of forcing a fixed circuit.
