Build a day around the wind, not a fixed circuit
Schinoussa's compact road and footpath network lets you walk from Chora to most main beaches in 10 to 40 minutes. A useful day links two shores rather than forcing a single grand circuit: start with the side protected from the morning wind, return to Chora or Messaria for water, then choose a second bay as conditions change.
Distances are short, but shade is scarce and the return from the southern beaches climbs steadily. Start early, carry more water than the map suggests, wear closed shoes on rough tracks and download an offline map. Avoid unmarked shortcuts through cultivated land, close gates, and turn back when a path deteriorates. For remote coves or a full coastal circuit, use a local guide or boat rather than improvising.
