Almyros offers a sandy, gently shelving swim with useful tree shade, making it one of Schinoussa's more practical beaches for younger children.
Our take
Shallow water and tamarisk shade on the east coast
Almyros occupies a low east-coast bay where sand continues into shallow water. Tamarisks line parts of the shore, a valuable feature on an island where shade is often scarce. Families value the easy entry, though shallow water does not remove the need for close supervision or a check of the wind.
The beach is reached by a short island road and walking track from Chora. Seasonal food may be available nearby, but bring water and anything children need rather than relying on a business being open. If the east is rough or wind-blown, Tsigouri or Livadi may provide a calmer alternative.
