Gerolimnionas Beach

Gerolimnionas is a secluded sandy and rocky cove with clear water, no dependable services and a longer, hotter approach than Schinoussa's main beaches.

Our take

A small northwest bay for self-sufficient swimmers

Gerolimnionas sits in a narrow bay on the island's northwest edge. Its mixed sand-and-rock shore and varied seabed make it attractive for snorkelling when the sea is calm. The cove's appeal comes from its lack of development, which also means there is no easy fallback when you run out of water or the wind changes.

Start early, wear shoes with grip and carry everything you need back out. The final track is rougher than the routes to Tsigouri or Livadi, and mobile reception should not be treated as rescue cover. Avoid the water when swell enters the bay, never snorkel alone and leave no rubbish behind.
