Read Simos beyond the waterline, using established paths to understand the twin bays without trampling the dunes that shape them
Simos is often reduced to turquoise water, but the low dunes and coastal vegetation are what hold the twin beach together. A short walk using existing tracks and boardwalks reveals the saddle between Fragos and Sarakiniko, changes in sand movement and the wind exposure that can make one arc more comfortable than the other. Early morning provides cooler ground and a quieter view of the system.
Stay on established access routes, keep dogs under current local rules and never drive, camp, light a flame or pitch shelter in vegetation. Do not break cedar branches for shade or climb dunes for a higher photograph. Carry water and sun protection, and check wind before setting out because loose sand and heat increase effort quickly. This is a low-impact interpretive walk, not permission to create a new path across fragile habitat.
