Small Prespa Birdwatching

The bridge and island paths offer broad views over Small Prespa, a globally significant wetland used by Dalmatian pelicans and many other birds.

Our take

Watch pelicans and wetland birds from established routes, making distance part of the experience

Binoculars reveal more than a closer approach ever could. Reed beds, open lake and feeding areas support pelicans, herons, cormorants and seasonal migrants, while the long bridge gives accessible views across several habitats. Species and activity change throughout the year and across the day.

Remain on established paths, keep voices low and never launch a drone or approach nesting colonies. Dogs must be controlled. Early morning provides activity with less heat, but spring breeding sensitivity is paramount. A local nature guide adds identification and ensures current protection rules are followed.
