Wade across to a small islet beach—but pack light
Bella Vraka lies on Mourtemeno islet, separated from the mainland by a narrow band of knee- to waist-deep water depending on tide, weather and the swimmer’s height. The crossing is the point of the visit: shoes and bags have to be carried above the water, and the short sandy shore appears only after the wade.
Bring less than you think you need and use a dry bag for phones and keys. The cove is small, with minimal dependable infrastructure, so it fills quickly. Families should assess the channel on arrival rather than relying on photographs; wind, boat wash and a child’s height can make the same crossing feel very different.
