Chiliadou Beach

A long pebbly beach beneath steep green slopes, Chiliadou has clear, rapidly deepening water and an exposed east-coast character.

Our take

A dramatic Aegean shore for confident swimmers

Chiliadou feels remote even after the mountain drive. Pebbles replace sand, wooded slopes rise behind the shore and the open Aegean fills the view. The water is often exceptionally clear, but this is not a protected lagoon: it becomes deep quickly and reacts strongly to easterly wind.

Check the marine forecast before committing to the journey, especially with children or uncertain swimmers. The main beach has seasonal places to eat and limited organised sections, while the northern end beyond the rocks has traditionally been used for naturism. Wear water shoes, keep away from the cliff base after rain and do not count on a mobile signal or lifeguard as a substitute for judgment.
