Kalamos Beach

Kalamos divides into a serviced cove and a rougher neighbour, both with pale sand, clear water and a steep Aegean drop-off.

Our take

Two coves, two very different levels of comfort

Kalamos is best understood as two adjacent beaches. The first cove has cafés, tavernas and organised seating; the second is less polished, with fewer services and a more exposed feel. Both sit beneath a dramatic slope and share unusually pale sand and pebble.

The water deepens abruptly, so it is not as child-friendly as the bright shoreline suggests. Check easterly wind, use shoes on the rougher sections and avoid sitting directly below unstable cliff faces after rain.
