Reach Vathy's practical east-coast swim early before the small bay fills
Filiatro is one of the most straightforward beach choices from Vathy. A road reaches the bay, the shore has pale pebbles and trees provide some natural shade behind it. Seasonal loungers and food make a longer stay possible, while boat hire or excursions may use the same water. Its convenience means the compact bay can become crowded well before lunch in July and August.
Arrive early and park only in designated or clearly permitted areas; the access road must remain open. Water shoes help on the pebbles, and the clear appearance does not remove depth or boat risk. Stay within normal swimming areas and supervise children. Shade, toilets, refreshments and lifeguard coverage vary by date and operator, so carry water and do not promise yourself full service outside the main season.
