Reach Gidaki by seasonal boat or a committed path, then keep the return plan independent of your phone
Gidaki's lack of road access is part of its appeal and its constraint. White pebbles sit beneath an undeveloped slope, and the water shifts from pale green at the edge to deep blue offshore. Seasonal boats from Vathy make it accessible to many visitors; a footpath from Skinos offers a quieter approach but takes effort, shade and route awareness.
Confirm the last return boat before leaving Vathy and keep enough cash for the fare. Service depends on season and weather, while the canteen may open only in the busiest part of summer. Walkers need shoes with grip, an offline map and more water than the distance suggests. There may be no lifeguard. Do not attempt the path after dark, and do not rely on arranging an improvised boat pickup once conditions deteriorate.
