Ganema is one of Serifos's roomiest beaches, mixing sand and pebble along a protected bay with sparse seasonal service and useful tree shade.
Our take
A broad south-coast bay with sand, pebble and tamarisk shade
Ganema occupies the western half of Koutalas Bay, below Serifos's old mining landscape. Its long shore alternates sand and fine pebble, and tamarisks create small pockets of shade. Development is limited to a few seasonal places near the access road.
The south-facing bay is often calmer than the island's east coast, though strong southerly weather reaches it directly. Bring water and shade if moving away from the taverna, and do not park on dry vegetation during fire season.
