Small coves beside the ruins of ancient Itanos
The coast at ancient Itanos is split into small sandy and pebbly coves immediately beyond the archaeological remains. It is quieter and less serviced than nearby Vai, making it better for a self-contained swim paired with a respectful walk around the site.
Do not climb walls, move stones or cross fenced archaeological areas to create a shortcut. Bring water and shade, and inspect each cove before settling because north or east wind affects them differently. The seabed includes rock and remnants near shore, so shoes and careful entry help.
