Cape Sounion · Beach

KAPE Beach

A striking small cove below the coast road near Legrena, best treated as a conditions-dependent swim rather than a guaranteed stop before the temple.

Our take

A pale, cliff-edged cove on the road to Sounion

KAPE’s pale stone and clear water make it one of the most distinctive coves south of Athens. The approach, stairs and limited parking are part of the experience, and the beach has little capacity for the attention it receives in midsummer.

Arrive early, carry everything back out and keep away from unstable cliff edges. There is little reliable natural shade, and the sea can change quickly when wind reaches this exposed coast. Pair it with Sounion only if the swim remains unhurried; the temple does not justify speeding on the coast road or leaving waste behind.
