Monolithi's great strength is space: a very long sandy shore near Preveza, with organised access points separated by quieter forest-backed stretches.
Our take
Kilometres of Ionian sand beneath a coastal forest
Monolithi forms part of an exceptionally long coast north of Preveza. Rather than one centre, it has multiple approaches with beach bars, free sand and forest behind. Even on busy days, walking away from an access point usually creates room.
The open Ionian setting means waves can be substantial. Pay attention to flags and do not enter simply because another section looks calm from the road. Use established paths through the coastal vegetation and avoid parking under trees where fire restrictions prohibit it.
