Myrtos Beach from Assos

Myrtos lies south of Assos beneath high limestone cliffs, combining a dramatic viewpoint and bright pebble shore with deep, sometimes rough water.

Our take

Treat Kefalonia's famous white arc as a weather-led excursion, not a guaranteed calm swim

Myrtos is the obvious excursion from Assos, but the elevated view and the beach are different experiences. The descending road reveals the full white curve; below, pale pebbles intensify the blue water and the shore drops more assertively than a family resort beach. Wind and swell can create difficult entry and a strong shore break.

Check current road access after storms or seismic activity, arrive early for parking and obey closures around rockfall risk. Bring aqua shoes and shade. If waves are strong, enjoy the viewpoint and do not enter simply because you drove down.
