Neighbourhood coves along Kavala's western coast road
Palio developed along the shore west of Kavala, where houses, small hotels and tavernas overlook a succession of coves. Each access has a slightly different balance of sand, pebble, rock and shade, so it pays to look before unloading the car.
The coast road is busy and pavements are inconsistent. Use a signed bay or bus stop, never reverse blindly into traffic and respect residential entrances. Some coves lose much of their dry shore when waves rise, making nearby Batis or Ammolofoi a better rough-weather choice.
