Palio Beach

Palio strings together small sandy and pebbly swimming points below a residential hillside, with tavernas nearby but no single central beach entrance.

Our take

Neighbourhood coves along Kavala's western coast road

Palio developed along the shore west of Kavala, where houses, small hotels and tavernas overlook a succession of coves. Each access has a slightly different balance of sand, pebble, rock and shade, so it pays to look before unloading the car.

The coast road is busy and pavements are inconsistent. Use a signed bay or bus stop, never reverse blindly into traffic and respect residential entrances. Some coves lose much of their dry shore when waves rise, making nearby Batis or Ammolofoi a better rough-weather choice.
