Adamas

A sheltered volcanic harbour at the centre of Milos travel.

Adamas is Milos's main port and practical base, with waterfront dining, mining history and boat trips around the island's sculpted coast.

Adamas occupies one of the Mediterranean's largest natural harbours, formed by Milos's volcanic geology. The Mining Museum explains the obsidian, sulphur and industrial minerals that shaped island life long before tourism, while a small ecclesiastical museum occupies the church of Agia Triada.

Most sailing trips leave from the waterfront for Kleftiko, Sykia and beaches inaccessible by road. Adamas has the island's broadest range of transport and services, though its atmosphere is more working port than Cycladic hill village.

Practical information

Ferries dock in the centre and buses leave for Plaka, Pollonia and major beaches. Reserve boat trips early, but keep weather flexibility when strong northern winds affect routes.
