Andros is the northernmost Cycladic island and one of its greenest. Water runs through valleys around Menites and Apoikia, while stone bridges and old paths connect villages once shaped by farming and silk production. The Andros Routes network makes that landscape unusually accessible to walkers.
Chora reflects the wealth of maritime families through neoclassical houses and respected modern-art museums. Batsi offers an easier beach base, and the island's east coast holds remote coves, monasteries and the lighthouse at Tourlitis. Andros rewards movement rather than a single-resort stay.

Ferries arrive at Gavrio from Rafina. A car helps with dispersed sights, though buses connect Gavrio, Batsi and Chora; use official route information for hikes.
