Apollonia is Sifnos's central village, linking bus routes, excellent restaurants, shops and nightlife along a pedestrian Cycladic ridge.
Apollonia spreads across several joined settlements in the island's interior. Its main lane passes churches, courtyards, cafés and boutiques rather than a harbour, giving the town a social life that belongs to residents as well as visitors.
Sifnos is one of the Cyclades' strongest food destinations, and Apollonia is the best place to taste chickpea revithada, mastelo lamb and modern cooking built on island ingredients. Walking paths lead towards Artemonas, Kastro and rural chapels.
Practical information
Island buses converge in Apollonia, making it a strong car-free base. The centre has many steps; reserve sought-after restaurants and rooms during summer weekends.
