Artemonas is Sifnos's elegant upper village, known for mansion architecture, traditional confectionery and paths through the island's settled interior.
Artemonas grew around churches and prosperous homes, including neoclassical mansions with gardens unusual in the Cyclades. Its lanes are calmer than neighbouring Apollonia and open to views over terraced countryside and the Aegean.
Family workshops produce almond sweets, biscuits and other Sifnian specialities, while summer cultural events animate the squares. Old footpaths link Artemonas with Agios Loukas, Exambela and the wider trail network.
Practical information
Artemonas is a short bus ride or uphill walk from Apollonia. Cars stay outside much of the old village; visit early for bakeries and cooler walking.
