Chora stretches along a narrow ridge between Paraporti and Neimporio beaches. Neoclassical homes and broad squares reflect Andros's shipping wealth, while the Goulandris Museum of Contemporary Art gives the town cultural weight rare for an island of this size.
At the peninsula's tip, the remains of a Venetian castle face the Tourlitis lighthouse standing on a sea rock. Inland lanes lead to the Archaeological Museum and the Maritime Museum, while nearby valleys open onto the Andros Routes network.
Practical information
Chora is roughly an hour by road from Gavrio port. Buses are usable with planning; park outside the pedestrian centre and check museum seasons before travelling.
