High caldera paths and quieter sunset views above Skaros Rock.
Imerovigli sits at Santorini's highest caldera settlement, offering cliffside stays, the Skaros walk and a calmer evening atmosphere than Fira or Oia.
Imerovigli was positioned as a watchpoint above the caldera, and the ruined fortress on Skaros Rock still dominates the view. A steep path crosses to the rock and the hidden chapel beyond it, revealing the scale of Santorini's volcanic walls.
The village is largely built around hotels and restaurants, but its location on the Fira–Oia trail makes it excellent for walking. Sunsets can be enjoyed without joining Oia's densest crowds, especially from accommodation set away from the busiest viewpoints.
Practical information
Buses are less frequent than in Fira, though taxis and the caldera trail connect the villages. Skaros involves exposed steps; avoid midday heat and strong wind.
