Soufli is Greece's historic silk town, with cocoon houses, working workshops and museums close to the protected forests of Dadia.
Mulberry cultivation and sericulture transformed Soufli in the nineteenth century. Tall cocoon houses, the Silk Museum and family workshops explain every stage from silkworm to woven cloth, a craft still visible in local shops.
The town also makes a natural base for the Dadia landscape, one of Europe's important raptor habitats. Recent wildfires have altered parts of the forest, making current conservation guidance essential rather than relying on old itineraries.
