Domestic life and village crafts inside an eighteenth-century house
The Folklore Museum gives substance to the craft identity visible in Stemnitsa's shops. Housed in an old multi-storey residence, its collections are organised around working trades, a traditional domestic interior and objects from village life. Silver- and goldsmithing sit beside weaving, icon painting and other skills, showing a broader economy rather than one marketable craft in isolation.
Access has been affected by restoration work in the past, so verify reopening, hours and entry directly before making it the centre of a day. An old house brings stairs, tight circulation and uneven thresholds; ask about accessible areas and a place to sit. Do not assume photography is permitted. If the museum is closed, the village walk and public workshop windows still provide context, but locked doors should be respected without trying to enter through adjoining premises.
