A living craft school carrying metalwork into the present
Stemnitsa's metalworking reputation is not simply a chapter in the folklore museum. The specialist school trains new makers in silver- and goldsmithing, linking inherited techniques with contemporary jewellery and design. Even when classes cannot be entered, the institution explains why small jewellery workshops still belong naturally in the village instead of functioning as generic souvenir shops.
This is an educational building, not a continuously open visitor attraction. Contact the school or local information office about any exhibition, demonstration or public event and never walk into a working class unannounced. Term dates, exams and workshop safety take priority. If buying jewellery nearby, ask the maker about materials, hallmarking and care rather than demanding a live demonstration. Confirm physical access in advance because specialist workspaces may not be step-free.
