Why marble defines northern Tinos
This museum turns the carved lintels, fountains and cemeteries of Tinos into a coherent story. Historic equipment, quarry material, drawings and recordings explain how marble moved from landscape to workshop and how specialist knowledge passed through families and villages.
Visit before walking Pyrgos so the details on doorways, squares and workshops become legible. The museum is thoughtfully designed and worth time even for visitors who do not usually seek out craft collections. Check the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation site for current hours and any workshops.
