The church is important because continuity is visible rather than abstract. Archaeological investigation after the 2005 fire documented earlier building phases and burials, now seen through sections of glass flooring. The current church, its icons and the excavated levels should be understood together, not as a ruin inserted into a modern room.
Worship always takes precedence. Enter outside a service unless attending respectfully, cover shoulders and knees, silence phones and ask before photographing the interior or people. Glass panels can reflect and become slippery, while thresholds may be uneven. Never step beyond barriers. If the door is closed, appreciate the church from the square and ask locally about an appropriate return time.
