Add post-independence education to a Methoni walk instead of ending the town's history at the castle gate
Methoni's modern grid was planned outside the castle after liberation, and the school belongs to that deliberate new beginning. Designed in the orbit of the French Morea Expedition and inaugurated in 1830, it used the mutual-learning method: more advanced pupils instructed beginners under a teacher's supervision. The restored building and its well make a compact but valuable stop for reading state-building through an everyday institution.
Treat the school as part of a town walk rather than assume a permanently staffed museum. Confirm current interior access with the local tourism or archaeology office; the exterior and well can still be understood when the building is closed. Do not lean over or drop objects into the well, and respect any barriers around the monument. Continue through the planned streets to the seafront for a clear contrast with the enclosed medieval settlement.
