Fry and Bouka Maritime Walk

A self-guided circuit through Fry links Bouka's fishing boats, the archaeological collection, Agios Spyridonas and traces of the island's seafaring identity.

Our take

Read Kasos from its ferry quay to the old harbour before heading inland to the villages

Start at the ferry quay, then move slowly around Bouka, the old harbour where small craft still make Kasos's maritime character visible. Continue to Agios Spyridonas and the archaeological collection before climbing residential lanes for views back across the water. The route is short, but doing it after the museum turns plaques, houses and harbour details into connected evidence rather than isolated photographs.

Allow two hours and avoid blocking working boats, ramps or fishermen handling gear. Residential lanes are not an open-air museum: photograph people and homes only with permission, keep voices low and stay on public passages. Paving can be uneven and slippery near the water, while midday shade is limited. Carry water, protect yourself from wind and return with a light if walking after dinner.
