Pelion Little Train

The historic Pelion train follows a 15-kilometre narrow-gauge route between Ano Lechonia and Milies, when scheduled, crossing bridges and wooded mountain terrain.

Our take

A narrow-gauge mountain journey from Ano Lechonia to Milies

The Pelion little train turns the western slope into a slow journey rather than a succession of road bends. Its narrow-gauge line runs from Ano Lechonia towards Milies, crossing stone and metal bridges and passing through olive groves, woodland and small settlements. The engineering and changing gulf views are the point; Milies at the end provides lunch, the local museum and the Taxiarches church rather than simply a return platform.

Service is not continuous and old timetables circulate online. Check Hellenic Train for the exact date, departure point, ticket rules and return before committing accommodation or transport. The operator currently states that the Pelion train cannot accommodate wheelchair users, so travellers with access needs should contact customer service before buying. Arrive early because parking and boarding can be busy, carry water in heat and never walk on the track while waiting for photographs.
