Follow old stone paths from the forest to the Aegean
This walk makes Pelion's geography understandable. From Tsagarada, old kalderimi paving and forest paths descend towards the sea and the small harbour at Damouchari. A shorter one-way route can finish at the coast, while guided variations continue towards Fakistra and the sea cave known as the Hidden School. Chestnut shade, village water and sudden Aegean views make the route more varied than its modest map distance suggests.
“Easy” route labels are relative on Pelion. Wet stone is slippery, the descent is sustained and a return on foot adds a serious climb. Use a current route, check conditions after heavy rain and arrange a transfer if you do not want to retrace the slope. Proper shoes, water and sun protection are essential. A local guide is sensible for the longer Damouchari–Fakistra variation or whenever waymarking and storm damage are uncertain.
