Skiadi Walk

A waymarked inland route leads to Skiadi, the wind-sculpted mushroom rock, and can continue toward the west coast for prepared walkers.

Our take

Walk to Kimolos's geological emblem early, with real footwear and enough water for the exposed plateau

Skiadi is not a roadside viewpoint. The municipality's marked route crosses an open volcanic landscape to a broad stone cap balanced on a narrower base, formed by differential erosion. The walk is straightforward for fit visitors in good conditions, but the absence of shade amplifies heat and wind. Starting early gives the formation and landscape time without turning the return into a midday endurance test.

Wear shoes with grip, carry ample water and download the route before leaving Chorio. Do not climb, carve or lean equipment against the formation; erosion that created it also makes careless contact inappropriate. Strong walkers can continue toward Mavrospilia, while others should return the same way. A seasonal boat pickup mentioned for some routes must be arranged beforehand and remains weather-dependent, never assumed.
