Choose Apokrousi for a broad, road-accessible bay before deciding whether to continue toward Kolona
Apokrousi offers room that Kolona often lacks. The broad bay has sand, tamarisks and a long outlook toward the western coast, making it useful for a full beach morning or a stop before the rougher route onward. Organised sections operate in summer, but there is normally space beyond them for visitors carrying their own shade. Afternoon wind can alter otherwise gentle-looking water.
Arrive before midday in high season because roadside and informal parking fills without creating more road width. Do not block the onward route or private entrances. Services, toilets and seating belong to seasonal businesses and should be confirmed rather than assumed in May or October. Families may prefer the easier approach, but there is no guarantee of lifeguard cover. Watch children, carry water and leave natural tamarisk areas free of litter.
