Tilos's broad sandy bay with room to spread out
Eristos is the beach to choose when pebbles are not appealing. The long bay has sand, scattered tamarisks and enough depth that it rarely feels compressed into one organised strip. Cold springs enter the sea in places, producing abrupt temperature changes that can surprise swimmers. Walk along the shore before settling; exposure and water conditions vary across a bay of this size.
The island bus normally includes Eristos in its summer circuit, while drivers approach through Megalo Chorio. Services near the beach are seasonal and should never replace carrying water, shade and a way to take rubbish out. Do not rely on informal camping reports as evidence of current permission. Strong wind or chop should change the swimming plan, and families should assess the day's entry and depth rather than assuming sand means uniformly shallow water.
