Hohlakoura's white stones brighten the water and make it one of Leipsoi's most distinctive swims. The same stones can be uncomfortable underfoot, and the shore offers little reliable natural shade. The bay suits swimmers who value clarity and a natural setting more than long hours on soft sand.
Use the summer bus, arrange a taxi or walk only in cooler hours. Bring aqua shoes, water and a proper shade plan; do not build stone stacks or remove pebbles. Sea conditions and jellyfish can vary, so look before entering and supervise children closely on the uneven edge.
