Drive to the road's eastern end for a dark-pebble shore where exposure and limited service matter as much as scenery
Kipos marks the practical end of the island's eastern road. Dark volcanic-looking pebbles, a broad open horizon and the absence of a dense settlement give it a very different character from sandy Pachia Ammos. The shore has room to spread out, but exposure to wind and swell is part of the experience. It is better for a deliberate scenic swim than for travellers expecting a fully organised family beach.
Check wind and sea state before committing to the drive. Pebbles can be hot and unstable, water may deepen quickly and waves make exit awkward; water shoes help. Carry drinking water, food, shade and a charged phone because seasonal canteen, toilets and lifeguard coverage cannot be assumed. Park on firm, permitted ground without blocking the road. Do not follow rough tracks beyond the road end or swim alone when the shore is empty.
