Swim from the black volcanic edge only after excursion boats and mooring lines have been assessed
Korfos is primarily a working and excursion harbour, with a black volcanic edge that permits a convenient swim when traffic is light. The caldera setting is dramatic, but boat movement, mooring lines and deep water make it unlike a protected family beach.
Use the section indicated locally, wear aqua shoes and stay clear of propellers and ropes. There is little room, no dependable lifeguard and midday crowds can overwhelm the shore. Swim early or after excursion departures rather than forcing it into peak harbour activity.
